The odds at the sportsbook will be impacted since the landscape of college football betting will probably be changing pretty soon.
Nebraska stated Friday that they’re shifting to the Big 10 which will probably mean the finish of the Big 12 conference. College football is going to appear a great deal different after the impending season since any of Nebraska’s long-time competitors vs the odds at the Internet sportsbook will most likely be going to the Pac-10.
Part of Nebraska’s move is monetarily inspired. As a consequence of the switch, larger paychecks will be coming. On Thursday, other Big 12 member Colorado stated it will be shifting to the Pac-10. Accounts turned out that Missouri was also preparing to abandon the Big 12. For Nebraska, the writing was on the wall, and they had to think about a move to a more stable conference.
With reports leaking out about Nebraska’s move, it did not exactly come as a surprise when they made the official announcement on Friday. Missouri may be going after Nebraska to the Big 10 but that hasn’t yet been stated. Missouri could wind up out in the cold if the Big 10 chooses not to give them an invitation. When all is said and done, the Tigers may wind up in the Mountain West. Missouri does not have a great relationship with the Big 12 as it is and the most recent reports have the Big 10 debating whether or not they want to include the Tigers.
Other schools are supposed to follow suit now with the announcement that Nebraska is leaving the Big 12. The Pac-10 is expected to present 6 schools membership into the conference and those other schools are Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. The Big 10 could also be including schools in addition to Nebraska. The Big 10 is waiting on a determination from Notre Dame. The only two teams that would be joining would be Notre Dame and Nebraska if the Irish take an invitation to join the conference.
The question will be what happens to the Big 12. Many feel that the conference is done after this season. Nebraska’s move to the Big 10 probably signals the end of the Big 12 as a conference. It’s now likely that the Pac-10 will become a huge conference with 16 teams and the Big 10 may follow suit by extending invitations to squads from the Big East. This will probably be the past season where you are able to count on rivalry games in the Big 12 remaining the same. The landscape of college football is surely changing.
Longhorns athletic director DeLoss Dodds has stated he wants to maintain the Big 12 together. Texas is considered the lynchpin to the Big 12′s survival. University of Texas regents will convene next week to decide whether or not the Longhorns will stay in the fast-disintegrating Big 12 or switch to a different conference.
